Dead Outlets & Repeated GFCI Trips: What to Note
A nonworking outlet or a GFCI that repeatedly trips can have more than one cause. Avoid assuming the problem is limited to the visible device.
Note the room, other outlets or switches affected, nearby GFCIs, breaker behavior, and what was connected when the issue began. Do not open electrical boxes to investigate.
If the outlet is warm, damaged, emitting an odor, or showing other concerning changes, stop using it and arrange an evaluation promptly.
